Sore throat.: For really sore throat -especially w swollen tonsils or lymph nodes - see your physician for rapid strep test and throat culture. It is imperative that strep throat be treated w antibiotics. Gargling w warm salt water several times a day can markedly decrease pain & decrease inflammation. Hope you feel better soon.

Depends on cause: For the discomfort itself there are several things you can try. Ibuprofen or aleve, (naproxen) salt water gargles, chloraseptic spray. Sometimes Claritin or zyrtec might help if it is from allergies or postnasal drip. If persists or worsens you should be seen by your doc to test for strep and evaluate further.

Sore throat: If you have a mild sore throat, Ibuprofen ar Acetaminophen are typically adequate. If it is more severe, you might need antibiotics. With mild soreness, tea with lemon/honey helps some people. Feel better!
