Anticoagulation: Aspirin is not comparable to a heparin. You need to be on the tinzaparin.

Unclear: Its unusual to need heparin (in this case tinzaparin) for 5 YEARS after DVT. Is there special consideration? For example, have there been repeat DVTs? Is there proven clotting tendency in patient or close family members? If not its possible patient is being "over-treated." These meds have risk of bleeding and shouldn't be used without good reason. Hope this helps.
