Hive challenge: Hives (urticaria) are very annoying, itchy and frustrating to both patients and physicians. For acute hives (lasting less than 6 weeks) frequently a cause is found when a very detailed history is taken by a physician experienced in diagnosing and treating hives. These triggers can be medications, stings/bites, foods, and even infections. It is common for hives to "come and go.".
