A member asked:

Im 16 and i keep getting a sharp digging pain in my chest when i breath in heavy, what could this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bone/muscle: Two common causes of chest pain in growing teens are inflammed rib joints as well as pinched nerves; both are normal and due to growth ('growing pains'). . These are not related to the heart. Exercise can make the pain worse. Rest and anlagesic medications (eg: tylenol) should help. Discuss with your doctor.
