It depends...: It may be best to ask your doctor why they want to test you for substance abuse. Being on Adderall and Ritalin (methylphenidate) doesn't require doing so but since both are readily abusable and are "controlled substances" as a result in many states, often doctors try to be vigilant that the medicines are being taken as prescribed and so have additional monitoring like urine toxicologies as part of standard care.
