A member asked:

When you are sleep deprived is taking adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) pointless?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sleep: Sleep deprivation, which is a chronic problem for many americans, can manifest as attention difficulties, memory problems and mood changes. Without sleep, the brain is not able to filter out extraneous information needed to focus. Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) can help, but not as much if the person is not sleep deprived and is not a cure of sleep deprivation.
