Findinga psychMD: To find a psychiatrist who will treat your mother and be a good match... Get names of psychiatrists (geriatric psychmd if mom is 65+) from: her insurance company, her primary care doctor's office, friends/family, or local hospital er. Call each psychiatris and ask if s/he is accepting new patients with mom's health insurance. Then call those mds to see if it seems like they will be a good "fit".

Psychiatric help: Unless your mother is a danger to self or others or can't care for her own basic needs - she will need to be willing to be seen voluntarily.
