Anesthesiology: Anesthesiology has been described as "90% boredom and 10% sheer terror". I've practiced 37 years and would respectfully disagree. A residency in anesthesiology will leave you very well prepared to practice safely and garner much appreciation from your patients.

Personality dependen: This depends on your personality and whether you go into a subspecialty area such as cardiac anesthesiology that may be more demanding. Many often refer to the specialty as a "lifestyle specialty" due to the predictable compared to some other specialties. This is probably less of an issue with large group practices. There are some life and death decisions, and situations requiring rapid response.

Very stressful: Anesthesiology is a very stressful job. One is always vigilant and ready to react to any situation. One must always remain 2-3 steps ahead in your anesthetic plan. Yet it is a very rewarding job/career.
