Heat/fiber: First, is it really a hemorrhoid? Most hemorrhoids are irritating but not really painful except for thrombosed external hemorrhoid: sudden painful lump at the anal opening. Those usually start to hurt less after 3-4 days though the lump will take longer to resolve. Hot baths will help reduce the pain and swelling. If it is not clearly getting better within a few days you need to be seen.
