Talk to oral surgeon: The oral surgeon can answer this for your specific case but generally most patients do well with sedation. This way you don't feel anything, see anything or hear anything and it is done when you wake up. There is some post surgical grogginess and possible nausea after sedation that you would not have with just novacaine. This choice is yours.

Consider: There are different ways of being put to sleep from nitrous oxide , medications to IV sedation. As you are put farther to sleep the risk of complications increases. If you are healthy the risk is very low. I would also suggest talking with your dentist about the different ways of being sedated, the dentist's experience, why you want to be sedated, and your health to help you make a wise decision.
