Yes: It is not uncommon for patients to recieve what is known as conscious sedation for surgical pprocedures such as having your wisdom teeth takken out. This is a mild form of sedation that sparse your protective relfexes. In most cases, you awaken from the procedure and have little to no memoory of it. It is a very comfortable way of having this procedure done.

Yes: General anesthesia, i-v sedation, and local anesthesia are all used by oral surgeons. Which is used depends on the surgeons preference, patients preference, type of impactions, etc.

Yes: Yes, very common. Much more comfortable for patient. Oral surgeon normally discusses all anesthetic options with patient. Doc and patient decide together.
