Does it hurt to get a lip augmentation done?

It doesn't have to: Lip augmentation can be done with a local or regional anesthetic block similar to what a dentist does for work on teeth. With this anesthetic block you would not feel pain with the procedure.

Sometimes: There are multiple ways to anesthetize the lips. Everybody has different pain tolerance. For patients who have a low pain tolerance, a nerve block is a wise procedure. In about 99% of my patients, I use a combination of a topical anesthetic cream as well as ice prior to each injection. I also mix the filler with lidocaine. Some people feel mild discomfort, some pleople dont feel anything.

Not once numbed: Once the anesthetic is achieved (local with or without oral or IV sedation or general ), the procedure should be nearly painless with some postoperative swelling and mild pain treatable with cold compresses and medications.

Lip Injections: There is some discomfort, however, it can be reduced by using a nerve block before the filler injections. But you will feel a pinch for the first nerve block injection.

Beauty May Hurt: Beauty may hurt, but just a little. While many patients may have little to no discomfort, some may experience a brief "pinch" during treatment. Local anesthesia with creams, blocks, etc help alleviate any discomfort. There should be no pain after the lip augmentation procedure.
