Low Platelet count: Thrombocytopenia can result from enlarged spleen, bone marrow disease, heavy alcohol consumption, chemotherapy, autoimmune diseases, bacteremia, pregnancy (mild), purpuras, or medications such as heparin, sulfa, quinine, anticonvulsants, interferon, & gold salts.
