A member asked:

I was told i may have pcos. what are some of the tests used to diagnose it and what treatments are available?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

? PCOS ?: Pcos may be present in up to 30% of women. It is an Insulin resistant state that is characterized by weight gain, irregular or absent periods, hair growth, infertility and predisposition to diabetes. Check w/your gyn. The diagnosis may be clinical not lab. Diet, exercise and weight loss will help, as will metformin which can reduce Insulin resistance and regularize menses and even fertility.
