Moisturize & Protect: Make sure you are using a moisturizing sunscreen of at least a spf 30 every morning - even if the clouds are out. Skin will pigment in response to inflammation - and acne causes inflammation. I really like the eucerin redness relief line of products for a good otc choice. A derm can help you out with prescription grade products as well. Good luck!

Alpha Hydroxy Acids: Alpha hydroxy acids, especially glycolic acid, is a good starting point for pih (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Many over-the-counter products contain Alpha hydroxy acids and are a good choice if hyperpigmentation is mild.Hydroquinone is used treatment for hyperpigmentation. By blocking the enzyme responsible for melanin production, the skin is lightened. Retinoid creams are sometimes used.
