A member asked:

I have a dark red mark inside my cheek. it is painless but scary. could this be a std? i do bite my a lot though. what is this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cheek Lesion: Any discoloration inside the mouth that his new should be evaluated by a dentist or physician. If you bite the inside of your mouth it is likely a "hematoma" also called a blood blister. If that is the case then nothing needs to be done, but ruling out other worrisome diagnoses is warranted. Melanoma can present in the mouth or under the tongue. An std is very unlikely.
