Doubtfull but possib: Any oral contact can transmit disease. Herpes usually is on the lips or the gums but can manifest on the tongue. Regardless, if it is herpes it is probably not the type two that you are afraid of, but a simple cold sore which will disappear in a week. Relax.

Probably not herpes: The usual incubation time for herpes is longer than a couple of days and the lesions most often appear on the lips or cheeks. The typical herpes outbreak is what happens after your initial response which can be a more seriously uncomfortable event. Kissing is definitely a mode of transmission however so while it's possible to transmit the virus, a sore tongue shortly after exposure probably not.
