I have a sharp stabbing pain in my ribs under my left arm pit and it comes in waves about every 30 minutes what could it be?

Musculoskeletal: Most likely, it is a rib dysfunction and is pinching a nerve. However, it could be internal in the heart or lungs although these usually do not cause sharp pains with any kind of rhythmic occurence. I would start by seeing a osteopathic physician.
