Yes you can: Peripheral vascular disease and cardiovascular disease are the number one killer. They kill by cardiovascular events; such as stroke, heart attack, sudden death, limb loss, organ failure, hemorrhage or bleeding out. Often no warning to the patient or doc, before a vascular event. Patients and doctors have to work as a team to diagnose and treat before event occurs.

Yes: There is a high correlation of peripheral vascular disease (PVD) with heart or cardiac disease. People with PVD have a risk for heart attacks besides the complicatiions in of itself from pvd, such as stroke, limb loss, and/or limb pain with exertion.

Yes: Poorly-perfused limbs are prone to getting infection, especially in uncontrolled diabetics. Gangrene can set in and cause sepsis, which is life-threatening. I see this scenario almost daily. Pvd also implies risk of having aortic aneurysm, heart disease, stroke. Smoking is absolutely, 100% forbidden! and i encourage pulling out all the stops to quit.
