Possibly....: Surgery makes blood thicker for 8 weeks afterwards, and blood clots can be dangerous. In the legs they can show up as pain, swelling, redness, or tenderness of the calf or thigh. If you pull your toes up towards your head, and it makes the pain worse, this is more likely. Muscle spasms also possible. Since blood clots can permanently damage veins, get it checked out. Could be blood clot: You should see your surgeon asap to rule out the possibility that this could be a post-operative deep vein thrombosis (dvt). The common signs and symptoms of DVT include pain or tenderness, swelling, warmth, redness or discoloration, and distention of surface veins. An ultrasound of the leg can often make the diagnosis. If present, anticoagulant therapy should be implemented.
