Should i be alarmed if one ear suddenly turned hot and red?

Infection?: Two things come to mind: a common outer ear infection (otitis externa) or an allergic reaction (even simple insect bites can do this in some people). Other possibilities include an infection of the skin of the ear (cellulitis) or trauma. Your doctor or urgent care provider can gather a complete history and evaluate you to come up with the best treatment. Take care!
