Depends on the drop: I would caution against using "get the red out" eyedrops. Those will often work initially by constricting the blood vessels but not treating the primary problem. They become less effective and more addictive as time goes on. There is nothing wrong with regular artificial tears as a treatment. She may need to continue those or consider an alternative like Restasis or punctal plugs.

Probably: Addicted to the drops (i assume visine?). Stop the drops and see what happens after a few days. Use only preservative free artificial tears.
