Depends: As a general rule, the eye has an amazing ability to see, even with severe nerve losss. Everyone has a natural blind spot in each eye (where the optic nerve exits the eye and goes the brain) and yet, even with one eye closed, it is hard to appreciate the blind spot. Typically, patients will have end-stage glaucoma before they start having glaucoma-related vision loss.
