Would it be unusual or concerning for lips to swell during second week of having braces?

Lip swelling: Yes. It takes about 2 weeks to adjust to having something foreign in your mouth. It is almost like your mouth is slowly forming a "callus". Is anything from the braces poking or sticking into your lips to cause the problem? It will probably be ok but i would still call your doc to see if you should be seen earlier then your next appointment.
