I'm just wondering, if your a severe alcoholic, why if you quit would you lose your sex drive?

Probably temporary: Having sex sober if you have been drunk for a long time can be really scary. The disinhibiting effects of alcohol can have an effect on your sexual desire. If you stay sober you will work through it and your sex drive will come back.... But if you are a severe alcoholic, be aware that it can be very dangerous to quit drinking cold turkey. Make sure that you are getting help with it. Best wishes.

Alcohol and sex: I agree with dr. Rishton's ideas here. Also, when drinking heavily you might want sex but find your ability to physically accomplish it, lacking. So, is it more painful to want what your body can't do, or to stop the substance that interferes with ability to select appropriate partners and enjoy what follows? Some anxieties may surface when sober -- and these can be worked through. Good luck.
