Depends: Lauren, it depends on the cause and circumstances. Most "blackouts" are from low blood pressure affecting the brain for just a moment or two. Usually the person collapses and blood flow is restored without injury. Other causes of blackouts including heart and vascular problems, however, and a fall associated with a blackout can cause a concussion or worse. Talk to your family doctor about it.
