Does alcohol affect a person's brain or body permanently ? i mean if he stops drinking , will he be harmed ?

DEPENDS: Alcoholism destroys nerve cells (brain). Lots of drinking destroys lots of cells. Many cells lost = greater reduction of function (intellect, etc). That's pretty permanent. Moderation (small amounts) seems okay.
