A 17-year-old male asked:
Does alcohol affect a person's brain or body permanently ? i mean if he stops drinking , will he be harmed ?
1 doctor answer • 3 doctors weighed in
DEPENDS: Alcoholism destroys nerve cells (brain). Lots of drinking destroys lots of cells. Many cells lost = greater reduction of function (intellect, etc). That's pretty permanent.
Moderation (small amounts) seems okay.
Created for people with ongoing healthcare needs but benefits everyone.
