A member asked:

Can thc affect anesthesia?

5 doctors weighed in across 3 answers

Yes: If thc is used inhalationally, patients have increased sputum production, coughing, and sometimes wheezing. In addition, thc itself has several physiologically important effects that may impact anesthesia, including heart rate irregularities. In chronic users, there is an increased dosage requirement for anesthetics. With acute thc intoxication, less anesthetic is required.

See below: Please let your anesthesiologist know all drugs that you are taking. Thc will not affect the anesthetic, but the side effects of smoking this drug will have an affect on your anesthetic.
