HIV disease : Hiv refers to human immunodeficiency virus. Infection by HIV always causes disease. This is commonly referred to as HIV disease. Aids is a term that is still currently used, but has little medical value. Aids generally refers to advanced HIV disease. Disease progression can be prevented by taking HIV medications. Thus people with HIV do not have to progress to aids.
