A 18-year-old member asked:
i have been having mild periodic stomach burning. from just moving. is this normal?
1 doctor answer • 4 doctors weighed in

Dr. Cornelia Franz answered

It is an alert: It is normal in that your body is trying to tell you something. Burning can be gastritis (inflammation of the stomach) perhaps an ulcer or just irritation after a virus. Something is amiss and causing you discomfort. Spicy foods, peppers, alcohol can aggravate. Acupuncture and chinese medicine can really help as can a visit with your physician if it has been occurring three weeks or more.

A 40-year-old member asked:
Is there any reason i'm experiencing stomach burning after drinking koolaid in the morning?
1 doctor answer • 2 doctors weighed in

Dr. Colin Kerr answered

Perhaps: When you sleep, your stomach is filled with normal acid, which occasionally can cause an uncomfortable gnawing sensation. When you get up in the morning and eat (real food), this buffers the acid, and you usually feel fine and good to go. Drinking coolaid does not count as real food and does nothing to counterat acid. Try some cereal or toast or fruit.

A 45-year-old member asked:
What does it mean if you feel like your stomach is burning?

Dr. Andrew Seibert answered

Stomach burning.: There can be many reasons to feel as though the stomach is burning. The most common, if the burning is in the midline above the bellybutton, would involve either acid reflux or gastritis or ulcer disease. I would discontinue any spicy foods or other foods that seem to aggravate it. If over-the-counter ant acids do not take care of the problem, you should see your doctor. Good luck.
