Bad breath: Also called halitosis, can be caused by tooth decay, gum disease, nose, sinuses, throat, stomach, & rarely liver or kidney or diabetes.

Varies: 1. Poor hygiene. I am not saying you are not brushing right, but there is the possibility that your home care is not adequate. Are you flossing, rinsing, brushing your tongue of cheeks? 2. Habits...Do you smoke? 3. Do you have the right amount of saliva for your mouth. Do you take any meds that might have a side effect of diminishing your saliva.

Halitosis: Halitosis. Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be warning signs of gum disease. Dry mouth (xerostomia) can also cause bad breath. If you eat foods with strong odors (like garlic or onions), brushing and flossing and mouthwash will only cover up the odor temporarily. Smoking or chewing tobacco can also cause bad breath. You need to practice good oral hygiene, see your dentist.

Bad breath: Check with your dentist to make sure you have no untreated gum disease or decay. In addition to brushing and flossing, you should also clean your tongue by either brushing it or using a tongue scraper. The tongue harbors food debris and bacteria that can cause bad breath. Bad breath can also be the result of diet, acid reflux, and stomach/intestinal problems.
