A member asked:

What is the most unsual rare and disabling autoimmune disease and as a neurologist you were even surprised the immune system can be so powerfull ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Autoimmune: There are several autoimmune neuropathies that can be very disabling, in particular guillain barre syndrome, due of its fast progression, can be very dramatic. Paraneoplastic encephalopathies and some aggresive necrotizing myositis can also be very disabling and difficult to treat.
