Male Menopause: You are correct. There is a lot of hype put on the air by companies making millions of dollars by creating very expensive forms of testosterone for men. But, low t is very common and the condition known as "the metabolic syndrome' or male menopause is real. I test every man in my practice over forty for this and also any other male with a chronic illness.

Low Testosterone: Low t is diagnosed with simple blood tests done first thing in the morning. Who needs to be tested? Any man who has symptoms - diminished libido, low energy, poor sleep, fatigue, depressed mood, or weight gain - as these can sometimes be caused by hormonal imbalance. I also recommend all diabetic males be screened even w/o symptoms. Not all men w/ ed need to be tested for low t though.
