Torn nail: Epsom salts is a great home remedy. It will help to prevent infection and may having a soothing affect. There are no side affects from using this product.

Yes: Epsom salt will be good to reduce soft tissue swelling. Most podiatrists will use it after ingrown nail surgery so it is safe.
