Infected or not?: I am unclear as to whether your toenail is bothering you because it is infected or just not nice to look at? It should grow out again in time. Depending on your toenail growth there is a risk for it to grow back in "ingrown", which can be somewhat painful. Keep soaking and keeping it clean and avoid excessive abrasion of the exposed area and it should grow back normally in time.
