No ibuprofen: The Acetaminophen dose is 10mg/kg or about 5mg/lb. If the kid is 8 lb that would be 40 mg as often as every 6 hours.Unless the kid is fussy i would not give it at all. Ibuprofen is not given under 6 mo of age due to concerns over potential for kidney injury.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) 40mgm: If baby weighs 6 to 11 lbs tylenol (acetaminophen) drops 40mgm and can be repeated every 4 hours if needed. I buprofen is not to be given to babies less than 12 lbs in weight but in my experince most babies do not need any pain meds as these are not very effective but you can try if you feel baby is in pain. You will not need it for more than 48 hours.
