Usually dark: There are exceptions to every rule. In general melanomas are pigmented and within the pigmentation there are usually variations. The variations are red, white and blue, i.e. The brown color tends to be more red in some areas, lighter in other areas and more blue in other spots. Some melanomas have one color and some have none, making them much more difficult to identify. When in doubt see your md.

While that: Is the direct translation - it is only a generalization. Melanomas can present in multiple colors, or even be pale. If you have a suspicious area, see your local dermatologist for an evaluation.
