Could you have a melanoma brain tumor as a primary source?

Yes, but rare!: It is possible to have melanoma arise within the brain as a primary source. This is quite rare and is thought to be due to the shared cellular origin with neural crest cells. It is more common, however, for melanoma to be found in the brain as a metastasis from the skin.

Rare: While possible, it is exceedingly rare. It is far more common for it to be metastatic disease from a cutaneous source.
