A member asked:

Can sudden stress bring on acute hashimoto's hypothyroidism? if the stress is reduced, is it possible for hashimoto's to go away on its own?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Stress does not cause hashimoto's thyroiditis. It is caused by a defect in the immune system. It does not go away by itself.
