Would not use: St. John's wort can induce the liver enzymes needed to metabolize xanax (alprazolam) and prozac, possibly making them less effective. Why would you want to take st. John's wort when you're already on Prozac & xanax (alprazolam) (according to your additional patient information)? Other studies show that st. John's wort has similar serotonin reuptake-inhibiting action to prozac, leading to adverse effects.
