Psychiatric dx: Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder. A person with schizophrenia may suffer from delusions (doesn't mean that they also have a diagnosis of "delusional disorder"). A delusional disorder is a form of a psychotic disorder.

Mental Illness: Schizophrenia is considered a psychotic disorder and yes it could be accompanied by delusional thinking. However this disorder can be treated effectively with medication and supportive psychotherapy. Best wishes.
