See Doctor: This could be heartburn & taking a ppi like omeprazol can help. However, you need to see the dr to make sure it is heartburn & not something else. Also, if you have been having pain for awhile, your dr may want to check if you have gerd & if it is causing changes to your esophagus (called barretts). There are other meds, different doses, drug interactions & side effects that should be discussed.

Omeprazole helps 90% of chest pain. Lingering pain when I sit/move/lay in certain ways. Should I continue Omep. for more than 14 days? Is this pain b/c of damaged esophagus? If I press HARD on my chest in a certain way, i feel the pain again.
