Hardware removal: The answer totally depends on where the pin/plate is and what structure it is supporting. Most orthopedic implants are made to stay in the human body and are not routinely removed.

See below: This depends upon why and how the hardware was applied. Most of the time hardware may be left in. The hardware we use is titanium or stainless steel this is usually not rejected by the body. On some occasions the hardware is placed for a temporary fixation of fractures and requires removal . Sometimes the hardware needs to be removed for future surgeries you need to follow up with your orthopedic surgeon for his recommendations. If you're unhappy with his opinion you can always get a second opinion thank you.
