Ankle sprains: Sprains vary, some should be treated by your doctor, some do not need to. First, rice...That simply means rest, ice, compress and elevate. Ice for 20 minutes at a time. Compress with an ace wrap. If you cannot apply any weight to it and it is very bruised then i would suggest having it looked at by your primary care or, if very painful and primary care is not available, go to an urgent care area.

See a podiatrist : Try to ice and elevate it as much as possible. Then get in and see a podiatrist for immobilization. Motrin, advil (ibuprofen) or alieve could help with the swelling. However, do not take any medication prior to seeing a doctor.
