Ankle sprain: Ice is usually a good idea for acute injuries (save heat for infections or older injuries). If your L ankle hurts, it's possible you also injured it at same time when you injured R ankle. But as you noted, it can also hurt from being over-stressed. So go see your family doc to be sure nothing else is wrong. Then consider using crutches to relieve stress. Ask for physical therapy if no fracture.
