Wound Healing: Wound healing is a complex field and many treatment options are available. Epithelialization (skin regrowth) occurs after establishing a healing wound bed. More rapid healing of wounds may decrease scar tissue. Bioengineered skin substitute (apligraf) can be used when appropriate to speed the healing of wounds, although oly approved for certain conditions.

Yes: With the right wound care approach wound healing can be sped up. In cases of venous ulcers or diabetic foot ulcers i commonly use a product called apligraf to speed up wound healing.

Superfast healing: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected from trauma. Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.
