What is the difference between palpitations and ectopics and irregular heartbeats?

Senstation: Palpitations are the sensation of feeling you heart beat in your chest. It may be physiological or physical. Irregular heart beats is a broad term that means your heart beat is not the normal ekg doctors are used to seeing. An ectopic heart beat is an irregular beat where the electrical source is not the sa node (sinoatrial node). I hope that helps clear things up.
