A member asked:

Is it ok to have anal sex when you're using an internal gel to take away bacterial vaginitis, as long as no vaginal penetration takes place?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Complicated: Anal intercourse is likely to produce contamination of the perineal surface whether or not there is vaginal penetration, and that may cause recolonization of the vaginal barrel with the organisms that produced your bv. There is no way to prove this one way or the other, but theoretically at least, there is a risk.
