Not indicated: Irritable Bowel Syndrome is characterised by abdominal pain / bloating. Associated symptoms can include heartburn and an individual with IBS can still have GORD (gastro-oesophageal reflux). A PPI (Omeprazole) may be helpful for heartburn, or GORD but is not a treatment for IBS. Be aware of a strong placebo component in treating IBS, Omeprazole may still abolish symptoms, but have adverse effects.
