Aspiriin alternative: If sensitive to aspirin, salsalate may be an option. Also, not all NSAID allergies are the same. Some nsaids are so different that you may tolerate them even if you have reacted to others. For instance : piroxicam. You need to see an allergist that performs medication / Aspirin challenges in order to evaluate these options.

NSAIDS/pain only: Yes, nsaids are mildly anti-inflammatory, but they do not reduce inflammation to stop joint damage. You need to be on remitting drugs, all of which are not nsaids. It is rare to be allergic to all nsaids. Several that are safe include salsalate and magnesium choline trisalicylate. They do not inhibit prostaglandins or thromboxanes as other nsaids do!
